…and welcome to the latest edition of the DTOL newsletter.

Starting back up again…

The Coronavirus LockDown is starting to ease all over the world and it appears we’ll be all be back teaching sometime soon. Some of us already know the date, while many others are still waiting for final approval from our governments.

Meanwhile others are taking advantage of the easing of restrictions to begin some dance classes, albeit outside.

You have my sympathy if this all feels confusing as children are mentioned, summer camps are talked about, culture is discussed, but almost never dance.

Fundraising

Sadly and rather predictably, dance alongside the performing arts, culture and leisure industries has largely been ignored (financially) by governments all over during this shutdown period.

I‘ve noticed a few dance schools have set up online fundraising appeals and have been really quite successful. I‘d encourage you to do the same if you need it to keep your dance school and/or teaching business going. You might be surprised by the positive reaction.

Jobs

The Jobs for Dance Teachers page currently lists jobs in Canada, China, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.

Faith Scott of Jump Academy of Dance in Clarenville, Alberta, Canada is looking for a full time dance teacher, ideally ISTD qualified, in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip hop, Musical Theatre and/or Acro from September 2020.

Donna Dempsey of Turning Pointe in Dubai, Utd Arab Emirates is looking for ballet teachers with a strong knowledge of the RAD Syllabus and preferably be able to teach Hip Hop or Contemporary or basic Tap too.
